ABOUT MUNRO

It was in the early 1970s that Phil Munro was introduced to the landscape industry. His dad, Don Munro, purchased a dump truck to deliver materials and install small landscape jobs when he had free time after work and on the weekends, and he’d bring Phil along with him.

After serving in the U.S. Navy in the 1980s, Phil built on this experience to start Munro in 1987. In 1991, he incorporated as Munro Landscaping. Over the years he developed many relationships with suppliers and builders, and the company experienced massive growth: It expanded the lawn division and started a landscape construction division in the ’90s.

Naturally, Phil’s son, Jon Munro, followed in his dad’s footsteps. He, too, grew up going to job sites and partaking in consultations with his dad. Jon worked for Munro’s throughout high school, and after graduating Jon teamed up with his dad to carry on the family legacy. Jon became extremely passionate about the industry, and attended seminars and classes to help the company continue to grow. He’s earned certifications for Paver Installer through the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute (ICPI), Segmental Retaining Wall certification through National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA), and Certified Pool & Spa Building Professional through the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA).

After experiencing a major increase in outdoor living interest for a decade and notching 30 years in business, Phil and Jon sold the lawn division in 2022 to focus on landscape construction and installation. The name changed slightly to Munro, and brought on a second landscape division that solely focuses on outdoor living and pools. Today, Munro specializes in creating outdoor living spaces and curated flower beds and planting displays. From renovating front yards to establishing a resort-like look and feel in an expansive backyard, Munro can help make your dreams a reality.
